Coats, Raincoats, Pajamas, Coat Accessories and Pricing

Coats:
     We make various snuggly coats for your deep-chested, narrow waisted greyhound's cool, cold and wet weather needs.   

   There are 3 versions of the coat – trench coat style; straight collar style or mandarin collar style.  
    -The trench coat type has a 9-12” long collar which tapers out 3” and is approximately 3” wide (Example:  Kokopelli coat pictured below).  
    -The straight collar is rectangular in shape (Example: Purple Elliott coat pictured below).
    -The mandarin collar is rectangular - about 11 inches long by 3 inches and is generally worn up (Example:  Black with leopard trim coat pictured below). 

All coats include:

- a side patch pocket for that spare biscuit or business card;

- snood, which covers that long lovely neck;

- a dart to tailor the hind quarters;

- a wide chest wrap (9-11 inches) that is secured by 1 .5 inch adjustable Velcro. No cold bellies here!  

There are 2 weights of coats:
      The medium/heavier weight coat – has a double layer of fleece and has a single layer of fleece for the wide chest wrap (we can make it a double layer if you live in a cold climate).  

      The lightweight coat has a single layer of fleece.      

      The coats are machine-washable, excluding wool coats. Simply turn them inside out and make sure the Velcro is firmly fastened.  The fleece used does have some water repellency if washed in powder detergent.

We will create your dog’s coat to your specifications. 

A. Length - Generally, sizes are based on a measurement taken approximately 1” below the dog’s collar (as he/she is standing) to the top of the tail or where you want the coat to end.  Some folks like more tail coverage than others. 
B. Chest Circumference - measuring right behind the dog’s front paws around the deepest part of the chest.  This helps us place the Velcro fastener properly.  
C. Chest Width – measuring from the top of one shoulder around the front of the dog’s chest, under their head to the same point on the top of the other shoulder.
D. Snood- button hole or none?  If you walk your dog with a harness, the harness can be worn over the coat.  If you use the dog's collar, ask me to add a button hole in the snood.

    You are responsible for the measurements, but here are some guidelines for your greyhound’s coat length:

                        
    · Tiny  – for Italian Greys.  Generally               14” long
    · Small – for dogs about 50 pounds              26-28” long
    · Medium – for dogs about 65 pounds          28-30” long   
    · Large – for dogs about 75-85 pounds        30 - 32”  long
    · Extra Large – for dogs about 90+pounds   32” + longer

   Chest Circumferences are usually 29 to 34 inches. 
 
   Chest Width measurement varies from 15 to 18 inches.

    We have a wide variety of solid fleece colors.  Some of the materials are no-pil, which means they don’t get fuzzy when washed.  I have some lovely Pendleton wool - in navy, purple, and black - the only draw back, is that the coat must be dry cleaned and prices are little more expensive.

    Solid colors include: black, classic navy, medium blue, brilliant blue, light blue, hot pink, yellow, red, dark green, mint green & purple.  Additional colors may be available, so if you have a particular color in mind that's not listed, just ask!

    We also have some plaids, but they sell fast, so ask about availability.  Choices listed below.

Cool Wet Weather Gear - Rain coats:

   If you walk your greyhounds in the rain, they will appreciate these raincoats!  We use the basic mandarin coat pattern, without a pocket.  The outer shell is a water resistant nylon (colors include bright yellow) or water proof "plether" (faux leather) in  red, hot pink, purple, some silver or blue).   A single layer of coordinating fleece or cotton provides the warmth.  The waterproof snood is provided at no extra cost to keep that pup as dry as possible.  Measure your dog the same as you would for the fleece coat.

Shortie Pajamas:

   If you keep your home cool at night, your greyhound will appreciate these pajamas!  We use a similar pattern to the coat, without a collar and pocket.  It is shorter than the coat - usually 24 inches in length.  It is a single layer of fleece (generally some cute pj material) and trimmed in a fun color.  A cute little bow can be added at the neck – no extra cost!  Measurements needed are chest circumference and chest width.

      Keep in mind, some may be more washable than others. 

 The Lucy Leash – named for the first greyhound dressed up in a matching coat and leash.  This leash is 4' long, has a stainless steel clasp and is totally wrapped in a matching fleece.  This is the “total” cool-weather, outdoor look, plus you get the benefit of warmer hands.

 The BOA Scarf – knitted BOA scarves are available to wrap around that pup’s neck.  They are generally 4” wide and 36” long.  They are knitted in coordinating colors with eyelash yarn or fun fur.
